As each breath is both inward and outward, universal energies are the two which arose from the original energy of the one. The Chinese have named these as yin and yang. These are as good a name as any. Yin represents the feminine, the gentle, the pliable and the out breath. Yang represents the masculine, the
firm, the rigid and the in breath.
From these two energies arise the five elements: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal. Water is energy at rest, Wood is energy rising, Fire is energy expanding, Earth is energy descending and metal is energy contracting. In these five elements all energies may be described. When the are combined with yin/yang we are ten possibilities and all of creation described.
